2014 Juneteenth Emancipation Celebration: Freedom Fest & Parade

Central Houston’s 2014 Juneteenth Emancipation Celebration marks 149 years of freedom, the 142nd celebration in Emancipation Park (currently hosted by Friends of Emancipation Park), and the 41st year of Juneteenth parades in Houston’s inner city!

The 2014 Parade will begin staging at TSU, at the corner of  Wheeler and Ennis heading west to Dowling;  then march  north on Dowling to Emancipation Park.  (1 mile) !

JUNETEENTH pays tribute to the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas by Union General Gordon Granger (and 2,000 federal troops) in Galveston, Texas in June of 1865–nearly 3

ADMISSION INFO

Parade is free to spectactors and FREE TO …Bands, Drumlines, Dance Groups, Cheer & Step Teams, etc.. and walking families,  Parents with Strollers, wheelchairs,Handicapped,  Tricycles, Non-motorized Bikes, etc.

OTHERS:
Motorcycles: $10 each
Walking Non-Profits and Clubs: $25
Cars, Vans and Trucks:  $50
Corporate Sponsors & Floats: $250
