
The Axiom Quartet and bass-baritone Tim Jones give the world premiere of “Open Source”, by Karl Blench and librettist Jacque Sutton, alongside Beethoven’s Quartet Op. 130.
A new work for string quartet and bass-baritone, “Open Source” is a collaboration between composer Karl Blench and librettist Jacqui Sutton. Commissioned by the First Congregational Church of Houston and Maggie Tucker, the work is inspired by the history and the mission of the church: to serve as a place of belonging for everyone regardless of race or creed. The Axiom Quartet will be premiering the work alongside bass-baritone Timothy Jones. To complement this new work, the Axiom Quartet will also be performing Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 130, performed with its alternative finale:
