Dancing Into STEM!

Dancing Into STEM Video Series

In this ongoing series of short videos, produced and presented by Silambam Houston, we use Indian classical dance, music, and rhythm, paired with English narration, to explore concepts in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

These next five videos in our ‘Dancing Into STEM’ series explore the following STEM concepts while introducing viewers to basic elements of Indian classical dance.

Explore how the earth spins and moves, and how these movements affect our days, nights, and seasons! Also, learn about chakkars – spins and turns used in the Indian classical dance form of Kathak – and use these to explore the earth’s movement. Releasing January 19

Discover how different shapes – circles, squares, triangles and more – can be represented through movements and formations in the Indian classical dance form
