Tonight it’s Doug and his friends vs. THE LAST BOY SCOUT.
One’s a deadbeat private detective, the other’s a disgraced former NFL quarterback. But when they team up together there’s no murder they can’t solve or pro sports corruption they can’t unearth.
Long before Shane (LETHAL WEAPON, KISS KISS BANG BANG) Black was writing and directing IRON MAN 3, he was turning out action movie gems for the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson.
Black was hot off of LETHAL WEAPON 2 just as the stars of Tony Scott (TOP GUN), Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans aligned, and the world was blessed with THE LAST BOY SCOUT.
The Alamo Drafthouse is pleased to present the nationwide series, "The Movie Interruption," the brainchild of hardworking funnyman Doug Benson ("Super High Me" "Last Comic Standing" "Best Week Ever") and host of the hit podcast, "Doug Loves Movies." The programming series will feature Benson and his fellow comedians in the front row of the theater, performing a live comedy show where they riff on classic and not-so-classic movies on the big screen. "Movie Interruption" shows of TERMINATOR 3, 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS, and BAD BOYS 2 and more have been hits with Alamo audiences already in Austin, Kansas City, Yonkers and beyond.
"We don't just tear into sequels, we take on original garbage as well," Doug jokes. "And we will also be doing some classics. Because there's extra humor to be mined in any film. Well, not any movie, we won't be interrupting 12 YEARS A SLAVE, for instance."
Audiences will be able to catch "Movie Interruptions" regularly at Alamos nationwide. At participating venues, the shows will feature a regular host comedian along with a rotating cast of other local comics and visiting talent.
"The Benson Movie Interruption" shows will feature Doug in person, interrupting the movie with some of his friends and local performers, while the regular weekly "Movie Interruption" shows will feature Doug in spirit, having helped to choose the movies and the comics who interrupt them.
About Doug Benson/About Doug Loves Movies
It would take too long to cite all of Doug's credits, but here's a small sampling: He has a documentary called Super High Me, based on a joke from his standup act, and another one called The Greatest Movie Ever Rolled. How does a little show called NBC's Last Comic Standing grab you? Fact: he finished top six in the 2007 season, no big deal. Doug was a series regular on four seasons of VH-1's Best Week Ever. He's made recurring appearances on The Sarah Silverman Program, The Jeselnik Offensive and fX's Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell. He has two Comedy Central Presents half-hour specials, and his long-running live show, The Benson Interruption, became a series broadcast on Comedy Central.
If that's not enough for you, Doug was a creator/writer/star of The Marijuana-Logues, a show that was a hit (small pun intended) in clubs and theatres from Los Angeles to New York – and drew a bongload of rave reviews. Now there's a CD, also called The Marijuana-Logues, and a book, The Marijuana-Logues: Everything About Pot That We Could Remember. In 2006, High Times Magazine named him Stoner of the Year, and in 2009, he successfully made it to all the shows in his thirteen-day Medical Marijuana Tour. Now Doug has several CD's out, most recently Gateway Doug, a new web series called Getting Doug With High and the hit itunes podcast Doug Loves Movies. You can also hear him talk through movies with his comedian friends in the live show The Benson Movie Interruption.
Enough about Doug Benson already!
