En Su Casa showcases professional Latinx short films for young audiences online through Seed and Spark. Families will be able to enjoy films that touch on a variety of relevant topics from the safety and comfort of their home.

From the creators of La Vida Es Cortos Festival, TEATRX brings you En Su Casa: A Family Film Festival & Competition. En Su Casa showcases Latinx short films for young audiences from all over the world in English and Spanish. Viewers will be able to enjoy the films at any time and from the safety and comfort of their own home. TEATRX will continue to create space for Latinx artists as we wait for the chance to safely assemble once again.

Tickets go on sale July 23, 2020

A Festival Bundle includes a set of short films that have a running theme.  Choose from 4 different sets of short films: At-Home Films, Animate Your Imagination, Social Dramas, and From Puerto Rico. ($5)

An All Access Pass includes access to all the short films in the festival, PLUS exclusive access to special events like Q&As with filmmakers and filmmaking workshops. ($20)

These inspiring shorts were created by families, students, and first-time filmmakers during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Anima Tu Imaginación

These artistic shorts use animation and stop-motion to create beautiful depictions of life, nature, and imagination that are fun for the whole family.

Social Dramas

These bold shorts take on current social issues by telling them through the eyes of young people.

These creative shorts from the “Island of Enchantment” will have something for every family member to enjoy.

Red Carpet Premiere En Su Casa

Thursday July 30th at 7 PM CST

Join us in celebrating the premiere of En Su Casa – A Family Film & Competition from the comfort of your own home. An introduction to the producers of the festival will set things off. Next, a conversation on the “Red Carpet” with festival filmmakers to discuss the importance of short films, what influenced them to make movies, and why it’s important to inspire the next generation of storytellers. Viewers will have a chance to submit questions to the filmmakers.

Animate Your Imagination

Saturday August 1st at 4 PM CST

Join us for a conversation and workshop with animation filmmaker, Claudia Ruiz. Hear about her journey as a filmmaker, her experience as an educator, and a breakdown of the nuance and attention to detail needed to create a stop motion scene from her award winning animated short and an En Su Casa Official Selection, “Ailin en la Luna.”

Journey to Film Making

Monday August 3rd at 7PM CST

Join us in exploring the different journeys of Latina filmmakers. A panel of professional artists will discuss their unique path to making their first film and the importance of Latina filmmakers to the industry. Viewers will have an opportunity to ask questions to the panelists.

Dollar Blockbuster

Wednesday August 5th at 7PM CST

Join us for this workshop and learn how to create a “Blockbuster” animated short on a budget. This 3-part workshop will cover Green Screen Animation, Color and Lighting, and Sound Recording and Editing  for a low-budget animated short. A Q&A with the workshop instructors will follow. This workshop is intended for beginning filmmakers.
