“Katha”, meaning “story”, is a layered solo Kuchipudi dance performance by the brilliant Sreelakshmy Govardhanan, who shares with us the emotions experienced by famous women in Indian mythology, emotions that are relevant even today.
Katha explores the subtle nuances of various emotions experienced by famous women characters in Indian mythology, and expressed through the brilliantly evocative dance of Sreelakshmy Govardhanan, winner of the prestigious Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for Kuchipudi from the Government of India’s Sangeet Natak Akademi. Sreelakshmy weaves stories within a story, drawing the audience into her narrative, and making them feel, vicariously, all the emotions that the women in the mythology experienced.
