Missa Solemnis

Presented by Houston Symphony at Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, Houston TX

May 14 - 16 2021
Missa Solemnis

“From the heart: may it reach the heart.” This was Beethoven’s inscription at the start of his towering mass, Missa Solemnis. For its composer, it was a labor of love he considered one of his supreme achievements, working painstakingly over four years, pouring his own profound spirituality into the score, and concluding with an impassioned appeal for peace. One of the most technically demanding works in the repertoire, it pushes the limits for both orchestra and vocalists. Simply put, experiencing it live is a once-in-a-lifetime, truly unforgettable experience.
