ABOUT THE SHOW
The Paper Offerings series tells the story of Amy Nguyen, a Vietnamese American girl growing up in Houston’s Midtown, and the otherworldly things that happen to her family.
Thirteen-year-old Amy embraces her love of drawing and media, creating films that combine action and animation to share her mom’s Vietnamese recipes. Connecting with Tuyết, a cousin in Vietnam, doesn’t offer the insight into the past she hoped for. Instead, she receives a startling communication from the future – another chapter in the Nguyens’ history of supernatural adventures.
Told in English and Vietnamese, this theatre piece for family audiences uses a combination of written storytelling through “snail mail” and virtual online performance.
ABOUT THE AUDIENCE
This project is ideal for kids aged 8-13 and their families, though elements of it can be enjoyed by all ages!
HOW IT WORKS
Paper Offerings is told through a combination of handwritten letters sent through the mail and short films shared online. When you sign up, you will join Amy’s pen pal list to receive her letters. Links to videos will be shared by the theatre on Amy’s behalf.
TICKETS & PRICES
You only need to buy one ticket per mailing address. If you want to send Paper Offerings to more than one address, please submit a second order!
Each ticket is a “Household Ticket” that can be shared with those you live with. You can participate for free, but each ticket that is purchased at $50 or more helps us provide more free tickets to households truly in need. Each ticket purchased at $25 or more covers its own costs.
