Papercuts II: Deep

Gallery M Squared is pleased to present it’s second annual show Paper Cuts an internationally juried art show in which artists auditioned their work on paper in a specific format to be considered. Upon acceptance artists then created new, never-before-seen works of art specifically for this upcoming event.

This year Gallery M Squared has decided to cut things up a little more by presenting our jurors' selected artists, 34 in total for this unique two part, two month long exhibition. Part one is, “DEEP” but part two is “DEEPER” with opening receptions in July, and another in August, 2014.

In November, 2014, as promised, there will be a group showing of the public’s favorite selected artists from 2013 in our special exhibition, “DEEPIST.” We can’t wait to present each of these exhibitions.

This year we are proud to announce, jurors Mr. Patrick Palmer, Dean, and Studio School Faculty Chair as well as Department Head of Art History at the Glassell School of Art, and Mr. John de la Cruz a member of the Art Colony Association’s Board of Directors, producers of the Bayou City Art Festivals held twice each year, and much much more. Both jurors bring with them their own individual eye for craftsmanship and quality, an understanding of the elements of art, and long histories of involvement within Houston’s art community. Gallery M Squared thanks them for their participation as jurors for this year’s “Paper Cuts II” series.

In our inaugural, "Paper Cuts" call and exhibition, juror, Miss Sharon Kopriva selected 29 artists to exhibit six new works over a three month period. Gallery M Squared would like to take this opportunity to give a toast honoring, Miss Sharon Kopriva for her outstanding career, her commitment to the Houston Arts Community and beyond, but if we may, we would like offer a greater toast for her commitment to you the viewer, it is because of you she does what she does.
