Sister Rosa Parks, the Bus Stops Here

On Dec 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat in the colored section of the bus for a white passenger after the white section was filled. Parks’ act of defiance, which led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott, became an important symbol of the modern Civil Rights Movement. In recognition of African-American History Month in February, Fort Bend County Libraries will present theatrical accounts of Parks’ historical bus ride.
