SONNAMBULA: EL LAUREL DE APOLO: Zarzuela from Madrid to the New World
Journey with Sonnambula, Ensemble in Residence at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Houston native Soprano Camille Zamora as they lead the audience through some of the most scintillating moments in Baroque zarzuela.
Presented as a Hispanic Heritage Series Concert, El Laurel de Apolo – Zarzuela from Madrid to the New World, will provide an opportunity to visit through song Spain’s Palacio de la Zarzuela where, in 1657, zarzuela, a dramatic genre that alternates between spoken and sung scenes, was performed.
This exhilarating look at the early days of Spanish musical theater will be performed by Sonnambula, 2018-2019 Ensemble-in-Residence at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in its Houston Early Music debut.
Full-season subscriptions may be purchased for $170 general admission and $130 senior admission. Individual tickets are available for $45 general admission, $35 senior admission and $15 for students with a valid student ID card. Children under the age of 15 receive free admission.
