A well prepared meal is often accompanied by a memorable dessert. Suga (sugar) is the final offering in a course of successful PrintHouston exhibitions. Flirting with the concept of sweetness, home and cultural references, the four artists incorporate the concept of sugar to examine personal stories, cultural identities and historical happenings into a provoking visual play. Each artist will continue to confront the boundaries of printmaking with experimental and traditional printmaking techniques. We celebrate the art of printmaking by converging old and new techniques and tools paired with unique applications.
Artists' group bio:
Artists, Rabéa Ballin, Delita Martin, Ann Johnson, and Lovie Olivia have previously collaborated for three remarkable exhibitions that mix, stir and incorporate the organic ingredients of fine printing and good friendship. Using materials including plaster, feathers, dehydrated vegetables, pillows, handmade paper and more, the four create an environment fit for a soul stirring dialogue.
