Join Eyeful Art and UP Art Studio, with community partners Texan-French Alliance for the Arts and The Midtown District, on June 7, 2014 as we celebrate the completion of The Biggest Mural in Houston history: Preservons La Creation (Let's Preserve the Creation).
French-American artist Sebastien “Mr. D” Boileau will paint a five-story, 60-foot-high by one city block-wide, 8,000-square-foot mural in Midtown, the Cultural Arts & Entertainment District of Houston.
The project will benefit a children’s hospital mural project, which will begin production in 2014-2015.
At 8,000 square feet of surface area (60 feet high and one city block wide), “Preservons la Creation” (“Let’s Preserve the Creation”) will be the largest mural produced in the history of the metro area of Houston. This work of art carries with it a mission of public art awareness and community centered art projects that connect the business and creative sectors.
The concept of this mural is to appropriate imagery from one of the most admired renaissance paintings in the world, and to place it within a contemporary environment that references the current urban culture of street art and the long tradition of mural painting.
These qualities and the historic, awe-inspiring scale of the mural will thus then bring to life a conversation about the importance of street art, and other urban art forms, to the culture of a city; calling to attention the worthiness of admiring and preserving these symbols of our urban culture for generations to come.
The building that is being donated for the creation of this piece is located in the heart of the city, an ideal location to continue the discussion of conservation and preservation.
It is the collaborative goal to see a bright future for public art in Houston, one that includes publicly and privately donated spaces. We have made it our mission to serve the community of Houston through public art and art events that engage young local artists to create mural-based projects that both beautify and educate through their very public presence.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
“After more than 26 years as an artist, the stigma remains, and I want to change people’s perception in regards to Urban Art. My artistic and personal goal is to use my skills, experience, and credibility to demonstrate a “Urban Art as Fine Art” approach through ‘Canpressionism’.”
Born in Versailles, France, Sebastien “Mr. D” Boileau was influenced by the American graffiti movement of the 1970s and 1980s and began his artistic endeavors in Paris in 1987 at the age of 14.
Starting in 1989, Mr. D created his first piece of canvas art, as well as his first large scale mural measuring 3,000 square feet – signaling the beginning of Mr. D’s commissioned artistic career. In 1995 Mr. D was invited to participate in his first contemporary art group show in Paris. He began to travel the world painting in remote countries like Sierra Leone, Tunisia, Senegal, and many western destinations such as the United States, Australia, and Europe.
He migrated to the United States in 1998 and in 2000 launched what is now a highly successfully mural company in Houston, ”Eyeful Art Murals and Designs”, with a wide range of clients in both the public and private sectors.
