The Houston Choral Society presents The B’s of Spring, Saturday, May 3, 2014, 7:30 PM, at Foundry United Methodist Church at 8350 Jones Road at Highway 290.
Our audience should be buzzing about our Spring concert which will highlight works of several Big B’s in the classical world – Bach, Beethoven, Britten and Bernstein.
The beginning piece will be by Rimsky-Korsakov and, while not a B, the selection is “Flight of the Bumble Bee” from The Tale of Tsar Saltan, so it still fits the theme. The evening will showcase the talent of our singers with “Sheep May Safely Graze” from Bach’s Cantata No.

The evening will showcase the talent of our singers with “Sheep May Safely Graze” from Bach’s Cantata No. 208 and Beethoven’s “Fantasy in C Minor, Op. 80” for piano, chorus and orchestra. We offer a belated acknowledgement of Benjamin Britten’s Centennial observance with our performance of “Rejoice in the Lamb, Op. 30.”
We will conclude the evening by honoring one of the greatest American composers, Leonard Bernstein, with his magnificent “Chichester Psalms,” one of Bernstein’s most popular choral/orchestral compositions.
This is one concert you will not want to miss. Please join us at 7:00 PM for an informative pre-concert lecture.
