The Frog Prince Disenchanted: Moving from Complex to Individuation (Online)

Drawing on Jungian and other analytic interpretations, we will examine the fairy tale of The Frog Prince, and take a look at the deeper masculine and feminine patterns that strain so many romantic relationships to the breaking point.

The Frog Prince is a beloved fairytale which appears to have a very simple moral message for young women: “Keep your promises, obey your parents, and you will be rewarded.” But is this conventional moral interpretation always the most healthy for a woman? And what of the Frog Prince who experiences the Princess’s disgust and yet chooses to marry her? How does this match represent a healthy, intimate relationship… Or does it?
