Mixteco School of Dance has been around since 1992. It's main focus is the traditional folk dances of Mexico, but also Spanish Flamenco, Latin Salsa & traditional Quinceanera waltzes and arrangements. We offer classes to students ranging from 3 & 4 years all the way to adults. We not only have beginner & Intermediate levels, but also advanced level performing companies. Classes are on going throughout the year. We are located at the Northwest Mall in Spring Branch.

National Association of Buffalo Soldiers & Troopers Motorcycle Club

The National Association of Buffalo Soldiers & Troopers Motorcycle Club (N.A.B.S.T.M.C) is an organization of professional men and women who are dedicated to the sport of motorcycle riding and safety. We ride our motorcycles [Iron Horses] to represent the horses that were ridden by the Buffalo Soldiers during the 1800's. Our colors represent a long history and we wear them with pride and respect. Our colors pay homage to African-Americans of the 9th and 10th Calvary who sacrificed their lives so that our country could be what it is today. They are a badge of courage, sacrifice and honor as are those who continue to serve. Our objective is to educate those that are unfamiliar with the racism, sacrifices and hardships that the Buffalo Soldiers of the 9th and 10th U.S. Cavalries had to endure. Our vision is to instill this knowledge into the minds and hearts of our youth of today so that we can motivate them to become better citizens and leaders of tomorrow. We feel by doing this the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers of the past will live on forever and shall not be forgotten. The National Association of Buffalo Soldiers and Troopers Motorcycle Club (NABSTMC) was established in October of 1993 in Chicago, Illinois by Kenneth “Dream Maker” Thomas. Dream Maker founded the NABSTMC for the purpose of fostering unity and fellowship with motorcyclists in the Chicago area. Since then, the NABSTMC has grown from one chapter to over 100 nationwide and overseas. We are professional men and women dedicated to the sport of motorcycle riding and safety; and educating the public about the accomplishments of the 9th and 10th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers. In addition, we “do good in the ‘hood” through community service such as feeding the homeless, awarding scholarships for graduating high school seniors, and riding our motorcycles in support of organizations such as the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Nigerian-American Multicultural Center (NAMC)

The Nigerian-American Multicultural Center (NAMC) was born with the laudable vision of creating a strong and vibrant community of Nigerian professionals, young adults and youths, who, while assimilating the American culture, will preserve and pass on their positive Nigerian values and heritage to future generations. The Nigerian-American Multicultural serves as a cultural bridge between the cultures of Nigeria and the United States of America. NAMC reaches into the Nigerian and American communities and promote the positive values and rich history of Nigeria.

Okinawan Cultural Association of Texas (OCA)

The mission of OCA is to enhance awareness and appreciation of Okinawan culture to members of the association, their families and the public, which in general is the main focus of The Okinawa Cultural Association of Texas. One of the ways we achieve this is by organizing and sponsoring educational, charitable and recreational activities and events. OCAT is also deeply involved in providing sustained instruction and training of Okinawan-related cultural activities, such as Okinawan dance, music and drumming. In performing all these facets for the public throughout the year we share the elegant and exciting artistry of Okinawan cultural with the Texas community as a whole. The Okinawa Cultural Association of Texas also finds pride in taking our place among the patch work of differing cultures that make up Texas. Participating in cultural exchanges, civic activities and any other opportunities to promulgate Okinawan culture to the general public is something we look forward to; and in doing so we also promote friendship and common welfare among the people of Texas; in particularly those who have an interest in Okinawan culture.

Palestine American Cultural Center (PACC)

Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo (PLS&R)

The PLS&R is a 501(c) (3) organization that is dedicated to raising scholarship money for local students. The Pasadena livestock show and rodeo is held each year in September or October and hosts a variety of events such as, a rodeo parade, a trail ride, a bar-be-que cook-off, a dance, an auction, a 5K fun run/walk, rodeo contests, musical entertainment, 4D jackpot barrel racing, beauty competitions, a talent contest, a horse show, a mule and donkey show, kids chili cook-off, , kids adventure zone, a golf tournament and even a bowling tournament.

Preservation Houston

Preservation Houston – history in progress Preservation Houston, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, was founded in 1978 by a small group of volunteers as Greater Houston Preservation Alliance. Preservation Houston offers a variety of educational, technical assistance and community outreach programs that promote the cultural, economic and social value of historic preservation and enhance the public’s awareness and appreciation of Houston’s rich history and architectural heritage. Public programs include monthly, docent-guided Architecture Walks of different historic neighborhoods and buildings, quarterly walking tours of historic Glenwood Cemetery and the History in Print author series and Preservation in Practice lecture series. Since 1979, Preservation Houston has presented the Good Brick Awards recognizing excellence in historic preservation and now presents the annual Good Brick Tour of selected award-winning historic properties. Preservation Houston also provides technical assistance and advice to the owners of historic homes and buildings, neighborhood associations, architects, designers and the community at large regarding historic landmark and historic district designations along with information about the economic, aesthetic and environmental benefits of maintaining and re-using historic properties. These services are offered free-of-charge to the public. With the advent of the Texas Historic Preservation Tax Credit, Preservation Houston is increasingly working with commercial developers and property owners seeking to use the substantial incentives for rehabilitating and repurposing historic buildings. Preservation Houston’s membership includes individuals, businesses and organizations. The Pier & Beam next-generation preservationists group is extremely active in providing social, educational and community service opportunities for its members. The Chao Center for Asian Studies is a research institute attached to a thriving undergraduate major. We support a model of Asian Studies that looks carefully and critically at the complex ways people in ‘Asia’ have been involved with one another and with the rest of the world, not only today, but also in the past. Toward these ends, we work closely with peer organizations in inter-Asia, indeed, in some cases with those whom we study, and in every case collaborating with scholars who pursue similar questions as we do.

Locinda Chance Landry is Founder/Curator/President of Southern Apache Museum Inc. a 501 ( c ) non profit organization. Chance is retired and was a member of the MWBE from 2004-2012. Her business Downtown Treats was a ma and pa stand at Hermann Park from 1994-2017. In the eighty Ms. Landry was a geological/geophysical draughtsman, for 15 years. She is also a caricature artist, face painter and has worked with the adobe illustrator in 1984 until current. She decided to open Southern Apache Museum (SAM) when she recognized a need to educate the general public on the invisible Native American Indian population in Houston. Southern Apache Museum was born Jan. 2012 at the Northwest Mall in Houston TX. The mall closed down in 2017 and is now one of three proposed sites for the bullet train that will go from Houston to Dallas in 30 minutes. The Native American Indian community is in the process of looking for another building to house their community center. They are working hard to raise money to have the virtual museum at apache museum.org become a realty and will be a permanent home in Houston for all Indigenous people.

The Dream@50

THE DREAM@50 is a tribute series to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, including The Dream@50 Art Contest, a student art contest (K-12), Dance the Dream, a world music/dance celebration, and a feature documentary. The mission of THE DREAM@50 is to reify Dr. King's dream of a fully integrated, fully empowered, world (the Beloved Community) through the arts. THE DREAM@50 is produced by Karz Productions in partnership with the United Nations (Academic Impact), UNESCO, YouTube, International Theatre Institute, Global Arts Link, Americans for the Arts, Dance/USA, National Dance Education Organization, National Education Association, National Art Education Association, National Council of Teachers of English, National Council for the Social Studies, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Arts Schools Network, Dance Camera West, and Dance Films Association.
