The Czech Center Museum Houston was founded in 1995 under the name of the Czech Cultural & Community Center. Initially conceived as a home for the Czech-American community in Texas, generous donations allowed us to construct our own building in the Houston Museum District. We moved into our current home in 2004. In the intervening years, historical and cultural artifacts’ contributions lead our board to pivot our mission statement towards historical and cultural preservation. We, therefore, changed our operating name to reflect this new mission. Today, the Czech Center Museum Houston seeks to inspire people to learn from those who sought freedom despite oppressive rulers and systems. We use the example of the Czech and Slovak experience in the United States and in the world as a mirror through which individuals of other cultures can recognize all peoples’ shared humanity.  Along with Slavic Culture and Art, we also host programs and exhibits about other ethnic groups, such as the Caribbean, Mexican, Vietnamese, Uruguayan, Costa Rican, Haitian, and many more. We value our position in Houston’s diverse community and endeavor to be a forum for cross-cultural dialogue. The Czech Center Museum Houston has a small dedicated staff supported by a corps of more than 200 volunteers, of which 20 to 30 do so weekly. With their assistance, we hosted 45 free or low-cost events in 2019. These events included performances by upcoming local artists, international musicians, guest speakers, a Czech Christmas Market, Easter Egg Festival, and crafting and language classes. We also work with other local nonprofits to provide them a venue for their programs. The Czech Center Museum Houston has been working with UH’s Department of History and assistant professor, Dr. Alexey Golubev, since 2018 on several projects. Our museum provides hands-on research opportunities and introduces University students to the workforce with our collaborative research project for our new exhibit and digital project. We are currently developing with the University of Houston Department of History an educational community project, supporting original research with assistance from local humanities students, led by well-established scholars. These research internships are supported by scholarly grants at UH, allowing students to gain practical experience in a real-world museum setting.  The museum strives to be an accessible resource, actively encouraging the study, appreciation, understanding, and enjoyment of art, culture, and history. We offer family-friendly events and special programs for children, focusing on personal development and education, complementing the Texas school curriculum.

This network is the foundation of what we do and how we roll on collective intelligence. We specialize in applying the most cutting edge marketing research and practices to deliver results that fit for your needs and budget. Our goal is to translate potential to success through consulting, recruiting, training, and incubating. WHAT WE DO We get results and we make your life easier in the process. Research: Through rigorous methodologies, we help our clients gain insights into who and where customers are and how to reach them. Strategy: Now we analyze data, discover needs, identify goals and develop marketing strategies that maximize Return on Investment (ROI). Implementation: And here’s the best part. This is where our team puts the proposed strategies and tactics into action. It’s time to witness the powerhouse magic. WHAT Z LAB MEANS Z – The Last Letter of the Alphabet. Just like the position of the community we serve: small businesses, startups, entrepreneurs, and not-for-profit organizations are at inevitable disadvantage against larger competitors on brand recognition, budget constraints, talent acquisition, and resource access. We believe in their dream. We share their passion. We are here to help them realize their full potential. LAB – Linking Academia with Business We fill the gap in between by applying cutting-edge research findings to industry practice. Our marketing specialists mentor aspiring talents in college and grad school and involve them in various marketing projects. This unique experience not only helps talents to put their skills in good use while building their portfolio, but also translate the most advanced strategic frameworks into the most direct fashion. Network Circle – Collective Intelligence This is how we operate at the macro level. Our social capital is the source of our power engine and what makes us invincible. It drives our cultural capital and economic capital. It is so efficacious that we cannot even help it. This is what defines us and what we are most proud of. Three Strokes: Mentorship and Learning This is how we execute at the micro level. We put the greatest strengths of Z LAB members together so they complete one another and bring out the best performance possible. “If three walk together, one can be my teacher.” We are growth oriented and love to learn from people around us. Rainbow Inside-Out: We love interdisciplinary collaboration. We are proud of the diverse background of Z LAB members in terms of their language and ethnicity, degree major and minor, age and experience, etc. As you may have noticed, purple and red meet in the middle of our transitional color theme whereas they don’t usually get to meet, being on the opposite side of the rainbow. The unlikely intersection is where good ideas come from. WHAT WE BELIEVE At Z LAB we believe in collective intelligence, local community and human interactions. Here are our CORE values: C-Collective Intelligence More than a “hive mind” of a bee colony, we nourish a “galaxy” network comprised of star networks, where specialists lead interconnected teams. All Z LAB members are informed of all ongoing projects and actively contribute to any project/team that they are inspired by. We strive to support the beauty and efficacy of diverse and cohesive teams, where our talents share various perspectives from different backgrounds AND share the common goal of helping our business partners succeed. O-Originality Ingenuity creates innovation. We’re here to challenge the status quo and we never do the same thing twice. The world in constantly changing. we are proud of our talents for getting out of the comfort zone so our business partners can start heard of the game. R-Resourcefulness Starting with an open mind, we take initiative by leveraging our talents and connections to solve problems and achieve goals with grit and creativity. The MacGyvers of marketing, we don’t limit our tool set. E-Entrepreneurial Spirit It’s an attitude and approach to thinking that actively seeks out change, rather than waiting to adapt to change. It’s a mindset that embraces critical questioning, innovation, service and continuous improvement.
