Axiom Quartet

The Axiom Quartet is a passionate and dynamic string quartet committed to presenting meaningful performances to the Houston metroplex and beyond. Through its many concert experiences, the Axiom Quartet has performed a variety of works ranging from traditional classical and contemporary music to Broadway, pop and rock standards. The group experiments with bringing their performances to unconventional venues as well as traditional concert halls. The trademark of the Axiom Quartet’s performances are the unique, diverse programs, combining different styles of string quartet repertoire under a specific theme that is presented in an artistic and meaningful format. The quartet is currently The String Quartet-in-Residence for the Music Preparatory School at the University of St. Thomas. The group hosts regular concert series at the University’s Cullen Hall. The Axiom Quartet has been invited as first ever classical string ensemble to perform at the Cave Without A Name in Texas Hill Country. The unusual event attracted wide audiences and gathered enthusiastic reviews from the concert goers and the local press. Following that success Axiom Quartet continues to perform at the Cave to sold out crowds. The Axiom Quartet continues their work as outreach ambassador for Chamber Music Houston (formerly Houston Friends of Chamber Music), one of the top chamber music presenters in the nation. Through the collaboration with CMH the Axiom Quartet serves the community by visiting local schools and retirement homes. The group’s unique music programs combined with spoken word, make the listening experience approachable for all ages and interests. The Axiom Quartet also coaches master classes for student ensembles at selected schools in Houston. Being actively involved in educational, outreach and audience development initiatives at their home venue at University of St.Thomas, in the summer of 2014 the Axiom Quartet hosted the first Chamber Music Camp at UST for local students. In 2015 the second edition of the Camp nearly doubled the enrollment, attracting students from the entire Houston Metro area.

BACE Productions

Music

BACE Productions is an innovative arts company entertaining the Houston area and beyond for nearly 20 years. The founders include a group of artists from theatrical and music backgrounds who banned together to produce a home grown Houston-based production company featuring elements of theatre, music and dance as performed by Texas artists. BACE strives to provide performance opportunities for Texas artists and present enlightening concert and theatrical performances to patrons of African-American performance art. It’s flagship production “Dancin’ in the Street Motown and More Revue” has generated audiences of over 30,000 attendees. It is undoubtedly a favorite amongst frequenters of Miller Outdoor Theatre, avid Houston concert/ theatergoers and supporters of the performing arts. This however is only the beginning.BACE Productions is currently preparing to debut a season of concert revues as well as launching The Bacement Foundation for the Arts. BACE is charged with promoting and preserving African-American performance art traditions.

Bach Society Houston

The Bach Society Houston has brought the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and other composers in his tradition to a diverse and enthusiastic audience since 1981. The professional Bach Choir Houston is the resident performing group. In addition, the Society invites distinguished guest conductors, soloists, and ensembles from around the world, thus offering the Houston community a program unique in content and quality. A commitment to historically informed performance–careful concern with authentic musical practice of the period–has distinguished the ensemble’s sound and style since its founding.

Back Pew Concert Series

Back Pew Concert Series is a progressive, creative arts, and musical performance experience housed among the ageless pews of St. John’s Church Downtown on its contemporary Northwest campus. Back Pew Concert Series presents its audiences with the unique opportunity to revel in music that touches the soul by opening its stage to the very best of diverse cultural acts. Each Back Pew Concert Series show gives its audience an intimate, exclusive, inspiring, and enriching encounter with musical geniuses and original artistic expression in a safe and unique setting. All proceeds from each Back Pew Concert Series show go directly to the Bread of Life, Inc., whose mission is to eradicate homelessness in Houston and uplift the families of our communities. Bread of Life, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, provides solutions through a series of social services addressing hunger, recovery, substance abuse, job development, health and wholeness, life skills and more. Bread of Life, Inc. provides these solutions through sustaining, equipping, and transforming the forgotten – with compassion.

The legendary Balinese Room nightclub in Galveston has been restored and reopened, after nearly twenty years of neglect and vacancy. The historic night club ( formerly a plush gambling casino and show venue featuring Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Jack Benny and all the stars of the 40’s and 50’s) is located 600 feet into the Gulf on a pier at 21st Street (across from the Galvez Hotel on Seawall Blvd) and features several nightclub venues.The original South Seas Showroom, complete with the original 1940’s tropical murals, arched ceilings, and neon and copper palm trees is open Friday and Saturday nights for shows and live bands. The South Seas Showroom brings top local and regional acts–classic rock, blues rock,Motown,etc.– to the elegant tropical landmark. Bay Area Bluegrass Association

The Bay Area Bluegrass Association known as BABA, was organized in early 1986 and incorporated in 1987 under the Texas Non-Profit Corporation Act. The primary purpose of BABA is to preserve, encourage, and promote Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel music as an American art form. BABA promotes Bluegrass through being active in community events, fund raisers, festivals, and monthly shows.

Bay Area Chorus of Greater Houston

Established in 1965, the Bay Area Chorus is committed to enriching the lives of residents and visitors to the Houston-Galveston Bay area through the powerfully expressive eloquence of choral music. More than 85 volunteer singers comprise the Bay Area Chorus’s two choirs: the Bay Area Mixed Chorus and the Bay Area Women’s Chorus. The chorus has performed classical works by Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Vivaldi, Schubert, Bach and many other composers of renown. The chorus also performs traditional holiday music, historic and contemporary compositions, spirituals and songs reflecting folk traditions from around the world. Past concerts have featured Dr. John Lienhard of KUHF radio’s Engines of Our Ingenuity, noted composer/arranger Alice Parker, composer and song leader Nick Page, and Houston Gospel recording artist Barbara Johnson Tucker. Keith Dixon has served as the conductor and musical director of the Bay Area Chorus since 1995. Dixon also heads the acclaimed choral department at Klein High School. His credentials include frequent appearances as a guest conductor and clinician throughout Texas and the Southwestern United States and performing and recording with the Robert Shaw Festival Singers. Bayou City Big Band

10 piece brass/wind section with bass guitar, drums, keyboard and singer. Music ranging from jazz to swing to pop to latin and more. The Bayou City Big Band is a big band based in Houston and comprised of a diverse group of individuals. Members include an engineer, a published author, an information technologist, free lance musicians, and local music educators. Although their backgrounds are different, they all share the love for big band music. This passion can be heard in their live performances.

Bayou City Boys Club, Inc.

Bayou City Boys ClubÂ®, Inc., (BCBC) is a Texas non-profit organization [501(c)3 status] based in Houston that was founded in 1993 to raise funds for providers of HIV/AIDS public education, patient care, and research. There are no paid staff members, and members are volunteers who receive no compensation whatsoever. Since its inception, BCBC has donated over $846,000 to Houston-area HIV/AIDS service providers. BCBC’s impact has been felt by local organizations, many of which would have been unable to meet operational expenses.

UPDATE JULY 2017: An Important Announcement from BCCM On June 12, 2017. the Board of Directors of Bayou City Concert Musicals voted to cease operations as of the end of July 2017. This decision was not made lightly. It has become increasingly obvious that the business plan and finances are simply not sustainable long term. For the past eleven years, BCCM has worked to bring you the best of classic American music and musical theatre. We feel like we have largely succeeded artistically, but finances are another story. The organization has lived on the financial edge for its entire history. With no change likely in the near future, the Board chose to bring down the curtain with dignity. We cannot thank you enough for your support over the years. Knowing we have loyal fans was the hardest factor in the ultimate decision to shut down. Again, thank you for your support over the years and we urge you to continue to support live theatre in Houston. Celebrating the American musical by producing concert stagings of under-performed musical theatre classics and cabarets featuring the Great American Songbook. Bayou City Concert Musicals is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization.

Bayou City Old Time Music

We are a non profit organization whose purpose is to promote old time music throught hosting this festival and generally promoting old time music. We offer workshops on various acoustic instruments, chiefly the mountian dulcimer, the hammered dulcmer, guitar, fiddle, banjo and autoharp. New this year will be a workshop for Native American Flute.

Bayou City Performing Arts (BCPA)

We sing to transform hearts and minds. Using the transformative power of choral musical excellence, we sing to: empower and inspire critical thinking about social justice issues through individual and community healing; entertain and enlighten our audience and bring a smile to the human spirit; demonstrate to young people the power and importance of human voices raised together in song; and nurture our membership through fun and fellowship. Bayou City Performing Arts was founded as The Montrose Singers, Inc. in November 1979. In 1992, the name was changed to Gay Men’s Chorus of Houston. Now BCPA is the umbrella organization for a family of community choruses which include: Gay Men’s Chorus of Houston, Bayou City Women’s Chorus, and Bayou City Chorale. In 2011 Bayou City Performing Arts began a partnership with Houston Pride Band and Unhinged Productions.

Baytown Symphony Orchestra

The Baytown Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1967 to bring fine music to the Baytown community, to provide an outlet for local musicians to rehearse and play in an orchestra and to encourage young talent. As far as possible, the BSO is made up of musically talented local citizens. These people are supplemented with musicians from surrounding areas to the extent necessary to provide a balanced ensemble for each concert. The BSO is operated by a twenty-one member Board of Directors who donate their time and services. The Baytown Symphony Orchestra’s operating income is derived from concert program advertising, donations solicited through an annual mail campaign, corporate direct and matching gifts, grants, an annual gala fundraiser event and the generous support of friends in Baytown and the Bay Area.

BBVA Compass Stadium

BBVA Compass Stadium will be a state-of-the-art, open-air stadium designed to host Dynamo matches as well as additional sporting and concert events. When it opens in 2012, the 22,000-seat stadium will be the first soccer-specific stadium in Major League Soccer located in a city’s downtown district. Spectators will be able to experience unobstructed views from both the lower and upper seating bowls, which are supported by a single concourse. The concourse provides full access around the stadium with easy access to concession and toilet facilities. The fan experience will be enhanced by modern sound and video elements throughout the stadium. Fully integrated broadcast facilities will allow viewers and listeners to feel part of the atmosphere. Aside from Major League Soccer and international soccer matches, BBVA Compass Stadium will also host Texas Southern University football, concerts, boxing matches, and much more. With its downtown location, the new stadium will be a part of a true Stadium District, which already features Minute Maid Park and Toyota Center, as well as the George R. Brown Convention Center, Discovery Green, and The House of Blues.

At Bernhardt Winery our mission is to produce quality wines and to provide a fun tasting experience in a warm environment. We are a small mom and pop boutique winery producing classic varietals and unique blends. We can produce approximately 6,000 gallons of wine each year. Our Tuscan-style tasting room sits on top of a beautiful hill overlooking endless hills and valleys, much like Tuscany. We carry traditional wine merchandise, along with fine jellies, jams and sauces. We are located just 8 miles from historical Montgomery, Texas, birthplace of the Lone Star flag and 17 miles from Navasota, the Blues capital of Texas and home to numerous antique stores. Enjoy a romantic getaway in the Loft, our cozy Bed & Breakfast above the winery. Also enjoy live entertainment at our lawn concerts from 6 – 8 pm Sunday evenings from mid-April through mid-November.
