47 Strings
47 Strings is a unique and unprecedented harp outreach program created by Houston musician, Meghan Caulkett.
For each of the 47 strings on the harp, Meghan will perform 47 concerts for deserving audiences in the next year. These concerts will include educational outreach programs for schools, hospitals, homes for the elderly, shelters for abused women and children, as well as community concerts open to the public.
The goal of 47 Strings is to foster a greater understanding and appreciation for classical music through concerts that enrich the community as well as expose underserved audiences to the harp. By presenting accessible concerts to families, children and community members, Meghan will share her passion for the harp, its wealth and diversity of repertoire, and inspiration for playing and performing as a contemporary classical musician.
Meghan has worked with Lovett Elementary in Houston, Ogden Elementary in San Antonio, and the JUMP program at Rice University thus far, and plans to continue to work with various local organizations as well as others around the country.
