Dancepatheatre
As of October 28, 2011, Dancepatheatre is on hiatus.
Dancepatheatre creates and performs works of contemporary dance/theatre that seek to illuminate the shared humanity of a diverse audience, moving viewers to deep feeling and wonder of the human experience. The vision of Artistic Director, Sara Draper is to speak powerfully through dance/theatre to move the human heart, and to reveal meaningful perspectives of universal significance.
These lofty goals are approached through innovation, collaboration, humor, and the fusion of disciplines, while stemming from a strong base in the modern and post-modern dance traditions. Dancepatheatre is unique in its emphasis of telling authentic personal stories, and in fusing spoken word and voice with dance throughout its body of work to highlight introspection, inclusiveness and acceptance.
In addition to its adult and general audience programs, Dancepatheatre continues to bring arts education to young students through The Cosmic Planetary Show, celebrating modern dance while teaching wondrous facts of our solar system.
Dancepatheatre’s ongoing Al Andalus Project brings a variety of events each season, celebrating the legendary time of peace among various cultures in medieval Andalusia, Spain, under Moorish rule. The music and dance traditions and languages of the co-existing cultures are explored in a context for 21st century, family audiences.
