Jewish Influences on the Broadway Musical with Deb...

Presented by Jewish Community Center of Houston (Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston) at Jewish Community Center of Houston (Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center)

Join Rice University’s Debra Dickinson in a unique exploration of American Musical Theater, the contributions of Jewish writers, composers and lyricists, and how these immigrants and their progeny helped shape a quintessentially American art form.

Using spoken word, video clips and live performances by three multi-talented actors, this intriguing, uplifting evening reveals Jewish influence on an art form that has become a worldwide phenomenon–all through the lens of two giant landmarks in American Musical Theater–Fiddler on the Roof and Cabaret–both deeply rooted in the Jewish experience.
