Join us at the ICCC for a special wine sampling with Lorenzo owner of the Marotti Campi winery.
In the mid-19th century, the Marotti family purchased the land in Sant’Amico hamlet of Morro D’Alba and built a villa in the heart of the Estate. An article featured in the local agricultural newspaper dated 1886 informs us that the first vineyard of Cesare Marotti consisted of “…8.000 vines, each positioned at a distance of 1.2 meters, using the Guyot training system.” At that time wheat and other crops were mainly cultivated in this area, but as the years and generations passed the farm landscape became more predominantly vineyards due to the natural suitability of this land to viticulture.
Light snacks will be provided during the presentation.
In our “Meet the Producers” series, the ICCC welcomes producers of Italian wines to the historic Milford House to share about their vineyards, the regions, grape varieties, processes of making wine and everything in between. The goal of these events if for all guests to have a conversation with the wine producer while tasting the unique and exclusive wines they create. “Meet the Producers” is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn about life as an Italian producer directly from the source.
The ICCC is funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.
