House of Blues presents The Wanted, with Cassio Monroe and Midnight Red.
English-Irish boy band The Wanted formed in 2009. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2010, peaked at number four on the UK Singles Chart. The album spawned three UK top 20 singles: their debut single "All Time Low," which debuted at number one, "Heart Vacancy," which reached number two, and "Lose My Mind."
Follow-up album Battleground was released in 2011 and hit number five in the UK and number four in Ireland. The lead single from the album, "Gold Forever", was released in aid of Comic Relief and reached number three in the UK. Their second number-one hit, "Glad You Came", topped the singles chart in the United Kingdom for two weeks, and in Ireland for five weeks.
In early 2012, The Wanted began to see success in the United States and Canada, with their hit single "Glad You Came" selling 3 million copies in the US and hitting number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the Canadian Hot 100. Additionally, their follow-up singles "Chasing the Sun" and "I Found You" reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart.
In 2013, the group starred in their own reality series on E! entitled "The Wanted Life." The series documented the group's stay in Los Angeles while they recorded their third album and prepared for a world tour, as well as their day-to-day antics. Didn't work out so well.
A major fallout among the five band members climaxed in an acrimonious breakup in January 2014 followed by a very public four-letter Twitter row. They're patched up now, to complete their U.S. tour, but will embarking on some solo work in the future.
Things have moved fast for duo Cassio Monroe, and they would not have it any other way.
“We met up on a Monday with the idea, were immediately on the same page, nailed down the direction of our sound, wrote several choruses, and a day later were asked to sit in at a writers night,” recalls Tripp Weir of the duo. “There was immediate response, which of course added fuel to the fire.”
Only a few months later Cassio Mornoe were packing local clubs in Nashville. In just over a year, Cassio Monroe had scored over a half dozen major TV placements on networks such as ABC, E!, Nickelodeon, and the NFL Network. In early January 2013, Cassio Monroe entered a deal with HitShop Records / Warner Music Nashville.
Both Weir and Jeff Garrison were past solo artists, but together as a duo things just clicked. Weir, who raps and sings on stage, is refreshed by the creative partnership. “To finally feel like I’m being myself with my music is a very liberating experience.”
A fresh new force on today’s pop landscape, Midnight Red is a five-piece act with an edgy yet all-American twist on the boy-band resurgence. Near-lifelong singers and dancers hailing from wildly different backgrounds, Midnight Red has an affinity for artists as eclectic as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Pharrell Williams, Radiohead, No Doubt, Justin Timberlake, and Bruno Mars.
Soon scoring opening slots for mega-stars like Carly Rae Jepsen, Midnight Red quickly earned a reputation as a magnetic live act with limitless energy. “That experience of connecting with people through music, bringing them some kind of joy by doing what we love—it’s just an awesome, amazing feeling,” says member Anthony Ladao of performing live.
