Houston Model Cities Revisited

Houston Model Cities Revisited

Presented by Houston Public Library at Houston Public Library - African American Library at the Gregory School

In honor of Military Appreciation Month, the Houston Public Library’s African American Library at the Gregory School will be hosting a series of programs to commemorate African-American military heroes and to remember the men and women who served our country and contributed to the freedom of this nation.

Join us for Houston Model Cities Revisited, Saturday, May 31 at 2pm.

Model Cities remains one of the most experimental and equalizing processes to be enacted within the city of Houston. Join original Houston Model Cities participants in conversation with present day community workers as they discuss the history of the program’s impact and effects on Houston. Reception to follow. Along with this program, customers are also invited to view the exhibit, Dreaming Practical: Houston’s Model Cities Program, 1969-1974.

These programs are free and open to the public. For information visit: www.houstonlibrary.org or call 832-393-1440.
