24th Annual Houston International Jazz Festival U...

Presented by Jazz Education, Incorporated at Various locations around Houston

After two decades of bringing jazz flavors from throughout the world to Downtown Houston, the tunes are still playing on, with new notes on the scale. From July 31 to August 3, 2014, the 24th Annual Houston International Jazz Festival kicks off Houston’s Jazz Month.

The 24th Houston International Jazz Festival will be a prelude to the 25th Anniversary and sets the tone for the modernization of the festival in 2015.  This year: patrons are offered 1 additional concert day; concert-goers will experience traditional Jazz music infused with rhythm and blues, drenched with soul, and fried with funk; and local talent is highlighted and sharing the stage for an all out music explosion.  Join us as we celebrate a century long tradition of Jazz and music education.

Thursday, July 31 is the Festival's opening party, with finger-snapping jazz and a delicious Cajun buffet.  Friday, August 1, will be spotlighted by a flavorful and jazzy official kick-off party. The tradition will continue on Saturday, August 2, with the main concert. The festival will conclude with the Mayor’s Scholarship Jazz Brunch on Sunday, August 3. There, talented student musicians, known as the “Summer Jazz Workshop All-stars” will be recognized for their scholastic achievements and awarded scholarships for furthering education.
