AFA presents their 2014 American Festival for the Arts (AFA) Summer Music Conservatory Concert Series June 19th through July 12th. Featuring the best and brightest young musicians and composers from the greater Houston area, these concerts are FREE and open to the public.

Barbara Scowcroft (pictured), AFA conductor-in-residence (Utah Youth Symphony), leads the AFA Conservatory Orchestra in a program featuring some of the greatest works written for the symphony orchestra, featuring such classics as Berlioz’s Hungarian March, Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite and Copland’s Hoedown.

Many AFA programs are offered in collaboration with Houston’s world-class arts presenters including Houston Grand Opera HGOco, Da Camera of Houston’s Young Artist Program, The Houston Ballet Academy and Houston Symphony.

Taken together, AFA serves more than 1,500 young people every year and presents dozens of free performances and outreach concerts throughout the greater Houston area.
