Houston Arboretum at Night: Wine, Cheese and Moths...

Presented by Houston Arboretum & Nature Center at Houston Arboretum & Nature Center

The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center presents a Houston Arboretum at Night: Wine, Cheese and Moths Saturday, July 19.

Are moths simply drab butterflies with insomnia?

National Moth Week begins this weekend and while we know how many species of butterflies flit around Houston (over 100!), no one is quite sure how many different moths can be found here.

After an informative presentation about these members of the Lepidoptera order of insects, we will take a pleasant night hike explore use black lights to explore three different habitats for nocturnal flying insects, including moths.

Instructor: Katy Emde is a member of several conservation organizations, including Native Plant Society of Texas, Texas Master Naturalists and Houston Audubon. Katy’s current passion is learning about and sharing the remarkably diverse world of moths.
