The Health Museum
The Health Museum is committed to excellence in innovative and interactive health and science educational experiences such as a hands-on walk through the human body, an up-close look at what makes each of us unique, new and exciting limited-engagement exhibits, mini-med schools, health fairs and community outreach.
Through entertaining and interactive exhibits and hands-on activities, The Health Museum offers people of all ages a unique health education experience. The Museum offers affordable membership rates for individuals and families. We also offer a variety of programs including Family Science Labs, mini-classes, scout programs and summer camps.
The Health Museum is Houston's only interactive science center and a member institution of the world-renowned Texas Medical Center. Located in the heart of the city's rich and varied Museum District, The Health Museum complements the growing interest and regard for healthier lifestyles, fitness and good physical, mental and spiritual health.
Interactivity begins in the Amazing Body Pavilion. Designed as a voyage through a Texas-sized human body, the Pavilion includes giant models of human organs and dozens of hands-on exhibits and science stations that engage visitors in how each system of the body works.
The latest permanent exhibit at the Museum, You: The Exhibit, uses the latest multi-media and special effects technology to take visitors on a journey to explore their physical selves, mental selves and their future selves. The sophisticated media nature of the exhibition encourages group interaction and participation in the exhibit, and visitors are able to leave something of themselves behind to change the experience over time.
In addition to our permanent exhibits, other attractions include limited engagement exhibits, 4D film experiences in the McGovern Theater, live science shows and challenging brain teaser stations.
The Museum also offers summer camps, school field trips, home school classes and programs for scouts, and groups of 15 or more.
Visitors enjoy shopping for unique gifts at the Museum's Amazing Body Store. The George and Barbara Bush Grand Hall, exhibit spaces, the McGovern Theater and classroom/conference room spaces are available for after-hours rentals for corporate events, special events and birthday parties.
