Sauté Bistro
Welcome to Sauté, a world of international flavors with local connections. We are a New World Creole restaurant in the Upper Kirby/Montrose area of Houston, with full bar, and events (including live performances and dancing) on many nights. Founded by Connie Lacobie, also the founder of Té House of Tea, we are strong believers in fair trade concepts and supporting international culture by highlighting international recipes, art, and dance. We are also firmly attached to our local communities, and strive to bring you local produce and free-range products, and local art and dance connections.
Sauté is located in a unique building, originally a house built in 1930, but expanded and used as a restaurant, pub or nightclub since the 1950s. Vacant for several years, we have brought it back to life, with completely new facilities, but highlighting original brick walls and archways. A 2-level bar surrounds both sides of the original entrance to the house, original terrazzo tile flooring adorning one side, while wood floors have been preserved on the other, interior side of the bar. A working fireplace also faces the interior rooms. Our early visitors have described the place as “romantic”, “unique”, “hip”, and “charming”.
Be prepared for some unique taste sensations from our young, exciting and brilliant chef Garry Hollie, as well as some familiar, top-quality dishes. We have a small but excellent wine selection to complement your meal, or you may enjoy our full bar, especially our unique Teatinis – tea-inspired spirits that have already been a hit with our crowds.
