In 1924, noted Houston architect Alfred Finn – who designed the Houston Coliseum, the Gulf Oil Building (now one of the Chase buildings), and the San Jacinto Monument, amont other buildings – was commissioned to design the Heights Church building. The cost of the building and all furnishings amounted to $135,000, with much of the funding contributed by Heights resident E.F. Woodward.
